Originally from Chapel Hill,
North Carolina, I grew up moving around often with my parents and four brothers
and sisters. Eventually, Indianapolis, Indiana became my home. I attended Indiana
University (Go Hoosiers!) where I majored in Human Development and Family Studies
with minors in Psychology and Sociology.

Upon graduation, I moved to a small town in Mississippi where I became a Pre-Kindergarten teacher -“Miss A”- to twenty little four year olds, and fell in love with early childhood education and my Delta family. Teaching is such hard work- it’s frustrating, rewarding, exhausting, energizing- it’s both intimidating and confidence building- all at the same time! Teaching is a privilege and an honor. In what other profession are you entrusted with someone’s most valuable possession, their little one, their heart- to love, support, and guide (in sometimes “first ever” experiences) in school?
After three incredible years in Mississippi (with a new perspective
on life, our education system and the Deep South), I moved to Charlotte, North
Carolina and became “Miss A” to a precious group of Kindergarteners. While in
Charlotte, I completed my National Board Certification with a focus in Early
Childhood and began collaborating closely with a phenomenal group of new
educators. It was during that year that I fell even more in love with teaching our youngest learners and began to crave the collaboration and camaraderie of working
so closely with other educators.

In Mississippi, I learned that education (this work) is about “Team and Family”-Thank You Quitman County Elementary
School-that perspective has stuck with me since my very first teaching experiences and is something that will stay with me forever. I believe this work is about togetherness, it's about collaboration, and it’s about doing the work that is by far the hardest, but the very best
work-in support of one another. It's about doing our best, to be the very best, for the most incredible and deserving little ones. I carried those thoughts with with me to North Carolina and work diligently to emulate them here in Oklahoma as a teacher and instructional coach to 26 awe-inspiring, passionate and dedicated educators across Tulsa, of which I have the great honor and privilege of working with.
